Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Does she not
light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?
And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and
says,’Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’ In the same way, I
tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over
one sinner who repents.
- Luke 15:8-10
In bible study the other day, we studied One of my Favorite Parables. The Lost Coin. Now, You May have already learned this one. I think the key to this whole parable is Verse 10. "I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." This.... THIS! is one of my major epiphanies.. I realized when I first read it I did not understand it.. I read it again and I was understanding about this woman working so hard to find the coin.. then I realized.. I was missing the last sentence. THAT WAS IT! We are lost... Until we ask for forgiveness of our sins.. when we ask for forgiveness.. the Lord and the angels above are so VERY happy! He loves us for being honest with him. Of course we are forgiven everyday as long as we believe.. But He loves us to be humble and to ask his forgiveness because we often forget to be good.. or just aren't good.. as a matter of fact.. we sin everyday.. We gripe all the time, we put ourselves before someone else, we may have mean thoughts about that person that may have cut in the bathroom line in Walmart, or you skip the laundry when you know you should be doing it because your son needs his uniform washed and ironed.... What im saying.. is.. We do... even when we dont mean to. Jesus knew this was how we humans were going to be forever and ever. So that is why he died on the cross. For YOU and ME.
I seemed to get off track.. a little. But! We are his lost lambs.. or in this case.. we are the lost Coins.. and the light that she needed to find us is the word of GOD, GOD, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. The lady never gave up.. Like God would never give up on us.. and when we are found.. that coin is like our sin.. that was us repenting our sins.. what an AMAZING metaphor.. I love this story.. and I hope you do too..
Hugs and have a GLORIOUS Day!!! Love you all :)
